Unique Vintage Jewelry Find #2

admin 25 Oct 2009 | : Unique Vintage Jewelry Find

So, I was hunting for a vintage necklace for another post when I ran across some truly unique vintage jewellery at Nouveau Motley’s Shop.

The shop owner, Rachael Victoria Adams, has taken old vintage watches and other pieces and restructured and redesigned them to make some absolutely fabulous modern day treasures.  Ms. Adams has extensive education and experience in the arts and a true passion that you can see in her work.  One of her necklaces was even featured in a music video called ‘Chemical Infatuation’ by the band known as Like a Storm.

Just take a look at this Victorian Brass Monkey and Pocket Watch Plate Brooch pendant.  It can also be worn as a necklace!

There are so many unique items made by Ms. Adams that I simply can’t stop at one.  Here’s a really funky and fun necklace made from a recycled late 1800s pocket watch:

These items are reasonably priced and would make exciting holiday gifts.  I know that I’m going to direct my husband’s attention to this post and suggest that he get busy doing his Christmas shopping!

Does Your Vintage Jewelry Work For The Fall 2009 Fashion Season?

admin 22 Oct 2009 | : Where & How to Buy and Sell

Think BIG this Fall! This season is still about “statement” pieces. Take a peek at your vintage jewelry collection and look for big, bold, colorful and shiny jewellery. Also, look for ways that you can stack and layer your vintage baubles. For example, you might throw several different bracelet styles on your wrist all at once. Mix and match for a daring and creative look.

Jewelry that works this Fall season can be found from any vintage era. However, you are more likely to find big jewellery that falls in line with this season’s fashion scene when you look to the Retro and Art Deco periods. Great colors and geometric shapes can be found from these periods.

So, I did a bit of hunting and found some vintage pieces that would be perfect this season.

First, take a look at this great vintage necklace from NouveauMotley’s Shop.  I love this necklace because it has color and it’s big enough to be bold but it’s not so big that it can’t be worn by the average woman.  Another great thing about this piece is that it has a price that is reasonable and not out of reach.

Second, check out this fabulous necklace from Adin’s.  It is simply exquisite!  Like the Art Deco piece above, this necklace has color and is bold.  It also comes with a matching bracelet.  And, yes…it is definitely much more expensive than the first necklace.  But, if you are lucky enough to have the extra funds, this would be an excellent purchase this Fall.  And, this vintage item will last well beyond a lifetime. Scroll down to take a peek at this fabulous vintage pendant from the Art Deco era.  It has geometric shapes that are typical of Art Deco vintage jewelry pieces.  It is made of 18K yellow as well as white gold.  The front side of the piece is white gold.  The blue rectangular baguette is simply beautiful against the white gold setting.

What makes this such a great find is that it has been stored in a vault ever since it was brand new.  So, you know this jewellery is in excellent condition.
