1. The variety of vintage necklaces available is quite vast. If you want to be sure you buy an authentic piece then you really should do at least a little homework before you shop.

2. You may be able to get a clue as to the maker of a particular vintage necklace by looking for a signature. Some makers added a signature to their necklaces. If there is a signature it will likely be on the back of the piece. However, not all vintage jewels contain signatures. Many do not. So, the fact that you can’t find a signature doesn’t mean that the jewelry isn’t authentic vintage.

3. If you can only purchase one vintage necklace then try to choose something that will be as versatile as possible. Look for an average length necklace rather than a choker or extra long style.
